FCS organizes an annual meeting, usually somewhere in the Americas, either in conjunction with annual meetings of Friends World Committee for Consultation, Section of the Americas or solo meetings. When not meeting with FWCC, we often meet at Western Yearly Meeting’s conference centre in Plainfield, Indiana, USA.
Our next annual meeting/gathering is scheduled for March 15 – 17th, 2013. We will be staying at Dudley Gallahue (Girl Scout) Camp, located in Morgantown, Indiana – which is just down the road from Waycross Conference Center, where FWCC/Americas will be holding their annual meeting. As in the past, we will begin with dinner on Friday evening (about 6:00pm) and end with lunch (around noon) on Sunday.
Registration information has been sent out to all members, please remember to register by Friday, February 20th! Those driving will receive driving directions to Camp Gallahue from Luanne. Bedding will be available for those Scouting Friends flying in. Fees are $5/person/night for lodging and $20/person for food. All fees to be payable to Luanne during the weekend.
Since it worked well last year, we will hear Scouting/Guiding reports on Friday evening – followed by a “Quaker Campfire” weather permitting.
Regular business meeting will be on Saturday morning beginning at 9:00am, followed by small interest groups/projects. Special topics on the agenda at this point include:
- BSA membership policy that is currently under discussion Nationally, 2013 BSA Jamboree ;
- FCS display in the Faith & Beliefs area and Chaplains;
- Ideas for our 2014 Annual Meeting/25th Anniversary celebration.
Weather permitting Luanne is willing to take Scouting/Guiding Friends on a hike around camp and we may have another “Quaker Campfire” Saturday evening . . . we are at camp!
Sunday morning we can go up to Waycross and join FWCC Meeting for Worship – a really unique Bi-Lingual worship service.
Anyone who is unable to attend the annual meeting who would like to comment on any of the topics listed above, please send your comments via email to the Clerk (see below) no later than Monday, March 11th, so they can be pulled off and printed for reading at the meeting.
NOTE: We will not have Internet access this year for our meeting. Camp is ‘down in a valley’ and it’s not available.
