We’ve updated the Advices & Queries section for Quaker Scouts and Guides involved in Remembrance Day/Veteran’s Day/ANZAC day events and the issue of wearing the poppy. We hope Quakers find is useful. Let us know your thoughts.

Members of the Committee are excited with the higher than normal volume of “Spirit of Truth” awards that were earned in 2020 and thus far in 2021! With that comes a sharp, unexpected, drop in our inventory!
No worries, the Clerk has been in contact with the jeweler obtaining quotes for both the “Spirit of Truth” and “That of God” youth awards and while were at it for the “Friends Emblem” adult recognition. With some discussion and discernment over the last several weeks we have reach conscience and the Clerk has placed an order this afternoon.
Current inventory of “Spirit of Truth” awards is extremely low at this point, and the Clerk is aware of quite a few young Friends currently working on this award. Not sure at this point the target delivery date for the awards – but will keep you all posted when they arrive . . . and that also means I need to work on additional storage space!
Orders will be filled with what we have, for as long as they can. Should we run out before the shipment arrives, the Clerk will send an email to the address listed on the application and will try to give an approximate date for when the awards will ship to the Scout/parents/Meeting.
Good news for young Friends in the UK who are working on the My Faith badge or are interested. Check out the UK resources page on our site to find downloadable workbooks to help. They’re full of useful suggestions, queries, and activities to help you on your faith journey!

Members of Friends Committee on Scouting are interesting in learning about our Young Friends who are earning their Gold Award (GSUSA) and Eagle Scout Rank (BSA) and would love to send these Young Friends letters of congratulations.
It’s easy to receive a letter . . . just visit the Request a Letter of Congratulations section of our website, fill out the info and submit. The Clerk will send the letter to the Young Friend unless otherwise directed to send to another individual for collection.
Please allow 2-3 weeks for a letter. This allows time for the Clerk to personalize the letter and to seek more information if needed.
To all of our Scouting Friends in the U.S. – We are still ready and able to ship out awards to you. Orders are usually shipped within 2-3 business days after the orders and payment are received. After the orders have been dropped off at the Post Office I will email or call the number on the application and let you know when you should expect delivery of your award.
As long as the U.S. Post Office is open for business . . . I’ll be shipping awards out.

The “Scouting for Peace” scroll was created at the Friends Committee on Scouting display in the ‘Faith & Beliefs’ area during the 2013 BSA National Jamboree.
The ‘Faith & Beliefs’ area theme at the Jamboree was “Peace” and the members of Friends Committee on Scouting turned to the Friends Peace Testimony for their display. A large scroll was made available for the Scouts (youth), Scouters (adult leaders) and other visitors to leave their messages of peace.
Before the scroll was taken to the Jamboree a Young Friends First Day Class in Maryland wrote “Scouting for Peace” in multiple places along the 168 foot scroll.
In 2016 a video of the scroll was created . . . so that it and it’s many messages could be shared more widely.
Enjoy! Feel free to leave us your comments about this project.
